Iowa Freshman Fiedorowicz To Start in Saturday's Game
Iowa freshman tight end C.J. Fiedorowicz
(feh-DOR'-oh-wihtz) has apparently lived up to his billing as one
of the nation's top recruits. Coach Kirk Ferentz says Fiedorowicz
will play against Eastern Illinois tomorrow. Ferentz usually
prefers to play upperclassmen over highly touted younger players.
Hawkeyes Extend Ferentz's Contract
Iowa says it's extending football coach
Kirk Ferentz's contract through 2020 in a deal that totals nearly
$3.7 million a year. His current deal runs through 2015 and pays
him roughly $3 million per season. School officials expect the new
deal to be signed today.
ISU Kicks of Season With A Win
Iowa State has kicked off the season with a
27-10 home victory over Northern Illinois. Alexander Robinson
rushed for 97 yards and two touchdowns last night. Quarterback
Austen Arnaud added 265 yards passing and a touchdown run. The
Cyclones' new-look defense held the Huskies to just 249 yards of
offense.
